I don't know how many such performances are necessary for the BCCI to set up a Women's IPL and expand the domestic setup to U16, U14.
People who say no one watches women's cricket are making excuses. As Cricket Australia did, you invest first, crank up the BCCI publicity machine and then expect returns in the long run, not the other way around. Yes there'll be losses but that's literally how any sport develops. Fan followings don't appear out of the blue - it's by more performances from more Jemimahs that are aired on Sony, not FanCode.
@Cool Knight Exactly, I think people forget that our men's team was rank mediocre for a LONG time. I remember my dad telling me how painful it was to watch Azhar's Indian team even in the 90s because of their inconsistency. Yet, the BCCI supported them, kept improving on domestic feeder systems, progressively increasing funding/coverage and marketed geniuses like Tendulkar quite excellently to keep people coming back, despite more losses than wins.
To get to the team whose reserves can clobber the Aussies at the Gabba needed decades of throwing everything at weaker teams in the process.
U dumb there is a women's IPL called Women's T20 league

The BCCI were so careless that they organised this shit league to clash with the WBBL meaning almost all the A list Aussies, NZ and English players (except some like Ecclestone, Wyatt) weren't available.
See, I actually watch women's cricket and follow it religiously. I could tell you team compositions of the Trailblazers, Velocity and Supernovas - I've done my research. Thus, ik how different and shitty this so-called tournament is from a fully fledged IPL.
Before calling me names, please reflect on your own ignorance - go watch HLs of this shitty one week domestic league and compare it with the ongoing Women's Hundred.
@@hp5732 The entire point of IPL is teams will require 7 Indian players and 4 foreign players, unfortunately we don't have that many women cricketers that will meet international standards to fill in.

Indian male players playing in foreign leagues will raise the profile of that league and will become a competition for IPL. So IPL brand value will fall and revenues also might be affected. That's why bcci not willing for a competition to IPL having Indian players

@@vihari0007 Not sure what you mean? Yuvi has retired, is also non-contracted in the IPL and can therefore play in these leagues. He played in the Canada Global T20 in 2019.
Players like Raina are the real concern. Retired/Axed from national team and still playing IPL but no international cricket otherwise throughout the year because of the BCCI rules. At best, he can try to re-enter the state side for Vijay Hazare or Syed Mushtaq Ali. Or maybe a league like TNPL that allows two externals per team.

I remember how she was groomed by Nasser Hussain and how high she was encouraged by the legend. Nasser Hussain came to visit her when she was even in school playing for school. I really don't know why on earth Romesh Pawar haven't seen her spark in batting even though she might have failed in many of her games. By the way, what does Romesh Pawar know about the modern cricketing game ? His own career is a witness to that.

Yuvi went to Canadian league but with BCCI"s permission as that league is no threat to the IPL's brand. They're not allowed in BBL,CPL,PSL,Hundred.

This batting unit is technically gifted. The top 5 is exquisite and numbers 6 & 7 are good finishers.
The bowling has the four best Indian bowlers on current and class form. The fifth bowling quota can be taken care off by Harman and Deepti - which is again very high quality.
And I repeat Jhulan, Shikha, Poonam and Rajesheari are India's top 4 bowlers by quite some distance, number 5 is far, far away.
The only critic could be this team is a bit soft on the fielding but Jemaimah's inclusion will be a good boost. And I think she will be perfect at 5. While Harman at 4 can take time and blaze away like a Dhoni-esque knock - also she can protect young Jemaimah from the newish cherry.
